Indivisible town hall:
The Fight For Democracy Begins

Let’s talk about Sunday night’s town hall.
First off, huge thanks to Allison Gill, Brina Blank, and all the volunteers and supporters of Indivisible. There are always challenges in events like this, and to see this go as well as it did on the first try was quite impressive. The energy in that room proved something: people are ready for a real fight.
We covered health care, housing, LGBTQ+ rights, and the way oligarchs are hoarding and weaponizing our data. But the moment that I felt I really broke through was during our conversation about redistricting. You simply cannot fight fascism with fascism. I’ll repeat that to my grave. There are zero exceptions. If it’s wrong in Texas, it’s wrong in California. Period. Anyone telling you otherwise isn’t protecting democracy—they’re rigging it.
One conversation we DIDN’T get to was the genocide in Palestine. I’ll say this without hesitation: no more blank checks for Israel. America must demand that Israel stop their attacks, find a workable solution for BOTH Israelis and Palestinians AND rebuild Gaza and the West Bank before they see another dime from us. That’s not radical—that’s basic human decency.
I took the much needed potshots at some of the biggest sleaze balls in government, specifically Cory Booker and Gavin Newsom. We have accepted self-serving clowns for FAR too long, and they have driven us into a fucking ditch. Cory Booker wants to act like he’s the toughest guy on the Senate floor, but bends the knee to the oligarchy like he’s recreating a Sabrina Carpenter album cover. We deserve leadership that upholds our values and the best interests of their constituents 100% of the time, not just when it suits their own political progression or financial gain.
Now, let’s talk about the DCCC. In short, the DCCC hasn’t learned a fucking thing. They would rather place their bets on the same sort of horse than do the needed work to win back the voters they have disenfranchised and left in the dust. It’s clear that they’re pulling the strings behind a particular candidate. From the cavalcade of AIPAC funded endorsements, to the “conversations with Newsom”, it’s clear that the Democratic Party wants Ammar. The DCCC wants “safe” politicians they can control without fear of pushback. I’m not that. But voters don’t want safe, they want leaders with a spine.
They want fighters.
Which brings me to Ammar. Values matter and consistency is key. Voters are sick and tired of candidates that have morals made of putty. This is non-negotiable: you don’t get to cozy up to extremists when it’s convenient, disappear when it’s hard, and then rebrand yourself as a savior when the deck is stacked in your favor. That’s not leadership—it’s cowardly and manipulative. And no amount of endorsements or donor checks can cover up a lack of a moral compass.
I’m fighting for better communities across California. I’ll never take AIPAC money, I’ll never bend the knee to party bosses, and I’ll never sell out the people I’m running to represent. I promise you this, if the DCCC and Ammar think that this race is going to be quickly decided by forcing mediocrity down our throats, they’ve sorely mistaken.
This ain’t a campaign. It’s an intervention.
