Throughout the last few years, I have staked my political existence on a few simple rules: Be authentic.  Fight the good fight.  Don’t just engage the youth, but encourage them to lead.  The mission, to push the Democratic Partty back towards the party of the working class, not the oligarchs who currently maintain control.

Today, I endorse Alan Vargas Cerna for CDP Chair as an extension of that mission.  

Alan has already demonstrated an unwavering commitment to our community. I’ve not just seen pictures and video, or quick “please vote for me” phone calls.  I’ve been with him. He has been at the forefront of organizing efforts, advocating for affordable healthcare, workers’ rights, defending immigrant rights, and fighting for climate justice. Alan understands the needs of our people and has the passion and drive to ensure every corner of California has a solid Democratic presence—one rooted in our core values: supporting workers, the marginalized, and, most importantly, the youth. His dedication to progressive values, combined with his ability to mobilize and inspire others, makes him the best choice to lead the California Democratic Party into a new era.

As previously mentioned, I believe the current leadership under Rusty Hicks has proven itself to be a catastrophic failure, one that will take years to decouple from corporate interests and billionaire control. Alan represents a fresh, people-powered approach. He understands that real change comes from the ground up, and he is committed to building a party that is genuinely accountable to the people.

I believe in Alan’s vision for a more inclusive, equitable, and effective Democratic Party. His leadership will ensure that our party reflects the voice and concerns of all Californians. Alan will receive two votes from my family on Saturday, and I urge my fellow delegates to join me in supporting Alan Vargas Cerna for California Democratic Party Chair.
